GLYDYS- Hold Me From The Rain – Review
Review by Tez
I got a message one day out of the blue from this girl I had no idea who she was but she was just enquiring if there was any new artists were being signed. She had heard of Edaisha’s Mysterious Wonder on Spotify, and was very impressed with the style of music. So Glydys had contacted me about doing some recordings and wanting to record some songs. I hardly had no tracks in the works. But I started to have a meeting with her on Zoom and we connected well. I discussed what styles and songs she liked. It was mostly Heartbreak songs and ballads. She was signed back in 2021 as Lockdown happened. So I started on 3 songs as ideas. One was Undone, which she wasn’t keen on the idea but was later given to Lucy Cooper for her album “Mystical Illusions”. The next one was another original ballad “Hold Me From The Rain” which was another diverse away from the normal AOR Rock feel. When I sent the 1st draft she loved it. So I then wrote another one called Surround Me, which was just an idea from the music she was bringing me into. This also was just an idea for a EP release on Spotify. But the difficult thing with the project was Glydys did not have anything to record with. She had a temporary setup which was not very good. So I decided to get her some new equipment which would help. Next we set about setting up the room to work. But this was another difficult process. So then she called me one day on Zoom and she said to me, “How about I try and record on my phone to see if it would work” and I was at 1st thinking maybe it would be good for recording the vocals to track. Luckly it worked out well. The other thing we did was to just try out the mixes and see how they did. These songs were not released on CD in the UK but now in 2023 they finally will be out on CD. The EP is still on Spotify.
